10 out of 17 candidate score zero votes in House of Lords by-election

It is an odd quirk of the British political system that the alternative vote (AV) is used for electing members of Parliament – it’s just that it is only use in by-elections for hereditary peers.

Hence this recent glorious contest in which 10 of the 17 candidates received zero votes.
