I recently noticed a discrepancy between how much Facebook was telling me some adverts had cost and how much it said it had taken via credit card. Look in two different places in the Facebook online advertising management screens – for total cost on the Campaigns page and total billed on the Billing page – and you got different, rather than identical, answers.
The amount the Facebook system said it had billed the credit card matched up with how much had actually been taken from the credit card (good) but this came to more than Facebook was saying the adverts had cost (not good).
After bit of back and forth with Facebook’s technical support, Facebook said:
Rest assured, you were not overcharged. Your Billing Manager shows the correct total for your campaigns.
As for your display issue, please note that our engineers are currently working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
In the meantime, if you have been relying on the Campaigns pages to tell you have much adverts are costing, I’d suggest you cross-check against actual charges taken by Facebook from your funding source.
