Why do councils not say they take plastics by the plastic type. Eg Calderdale says it takes “drinks bottles but not tops”. Basically that is type 1 and 2 plastic so if the top is also type 1 or 2 they can take it and can take some of the same plastic that aren’t drinks bottles but are the same type.
When I ask at the bring sites they are quite happy for that material to go into the skip – but they won’t take it door to door.
BTW if that change means they will take type 5 plastics then will they also take empty Riso ink tubes (the LD holy grail for recycling
