I don’t want to put you off, but the Daily Mail likes the latest Lib Dem policy idea

Next off the press release summer production line of policy ideas from the Liberal Democrat manifesto process is restoring standing areas at football matches:

Under manifesto plans announced today, football clubs would be allowed to work with their supporters to introduce standing areas.

70% of UK football clubs support safe standing and fans say standing provides a better atmosphere.

Introducing safe standing would also cut the price of going to watch a football match.

The idea has received a huge range of media coverage for a policy announcement, and even a friendly write-up in the Daily Mail. It’s also, praise be, not an extra spending commitment which implies extra cuts to local government spending.

If it’s an issue new to you, the BBC’s report is well worth a quick watch.

As with previous products of the press release production line, this idea is part of the pre-manifesto document that will get debated at theĀ Liberal Democrat conference in Glasgow this October.
