Henry Macrory: a touch of desperation in Conservative ranks

Wondering what the top Conservative advisors really think of last night’s debate performance by David Cameron? Take a look then at the tweets from the party’s Head of Press, Henry Macrory [subsequently all removed from the internet]:

1. A series of voodoo (i.e. anyone can vote and it’s easy to vote multiple times) poll figures are reported on who won the debate – but none of the figures from the proper opinion polls on who won the debate.

2. Only one figure is reported from one of the proper polls, and no – it’s not about who the public think did best in the debate.

3. Then polling figures generally are rubbished.

4. And then he talks up how many people didn’t watch the debate.

Or in ordinary speak, “Bugger. Our chap was crap. Polls are bad. If only it hadn’t really happened”.

P.S. In what is now becoming a post-debate tradition, Tim Montgomerie has gone for looking to blame something other than his guy for how the debate has gone. After the ChancellorsĀ debateĀ he was questioning whether the audience had been packed (no evidence, but hey – if people were clapping Vince Cable the most, it must be a fix). This time he’s gone for questioning how much screen time Nick Clegg was given. It’s all a conspiracy, I tell you.
