[He] has admitted in legal documents to the error – an offence under the Representation of the People Act carrying a maximum penalty of £5,000 or a prison sentence. However, the Scottish judge hearing the case is expected to take a lenient view of Brown’s behaviour.

(Oh ok, this story is from February 19, 2006. The judge was indeed lenient.)
