AV to the left of them, AV to the right of them…

The alternative vote (AV) is in much demand as an electoral system at the moment. Not only is it the system being used for the Labour leadership election, it’s also the electoral system being used by MPs to elect select committee chairs (hat-tip: Polly Curtis).

Look forward then to the sight of MPs who have happily used AV to pick their party leader and to elect key Parliamentary posts arguing that it’s really a bad, bad system…
