Conservative Party loses majority on Mendip Council

Cllr Les Bennett has quit the Conservative group on Mendip Council, deciding to sit instead as an independent.

The loss of Cllr Bennett means the Conservative Party no longer has an overall majority on the local council. Its political make-up is now 23 Conservative, 23 Liberal Democrat and 1 independent.
