Unsung heroes of the election: Sylvia Emmott

Welcome to another of the unsung heroes of the 2015 general election; this time it’s Sylvia Emmott.

Tim Farron and Sylvia Emmott

As Tim Farron says of Sylvia:

Sylvia Emmott is one of those people that every local party has. A person who is civic minded, community spirited and dedicated, Sylvia is a party stalwart. She is someone who doesn’t want headlines, but works in the background rolling up her sleeves and getting stuck in.

She is to me, the best of Kendal. She is a former maths teacher and deputy head at Queen Katherine School and she has taught half of the town! All the volunteers sit up straight in our office when Mrs Emmott walks into the room!

Sylvia has been Mayor of Kendal, but more than that she embodies to me the true community politician. She knows her community inside out and knows the issues they face – but more than that, she fixes them.
