Tory councillor quits and backs Lib Dem MP in election

Good news from Sutton for Lib DEm MP Paul Burstow’s re-election campaign:

On Monday night, Cheam Councillor Graham Whitham surprised everyone by resigning as a Conservative during a Council meeting.

Today he has gone one step further by backing my re-election campaign and is urging others to do the same.

Graham has been a life long Conservative and as he told councillors on Monday he felt compelled to speak out against the nasty tendency in his party and warn of the danger of the Tories becoming even more extreme.

I am grateful for his support and invite you to read his speech to the Council setting out his reasons here.

Best wishes,

Paul Burstow
