Another day, another dodgy automated phone call about insurance, this time from 020 3634 9910.
Firms can only make automated calls to you if they have your prior permission to do so, and to the best of my knowledge this one didn’t. The automated voice is rather sneaky, sounding very human and going for voice recognition to work out what to say next rather than asking you to press 1, 2 etc.
What’s more, as with so many of these calls, the automated message made a false claim about my personal circumstances, involving a supposed traffic accident – and one so far off from reality it’s hard to see how any genuine data could have been mangled in that way to make an innocent mistake.
So if you get a call from 020 3634 9910, ignore it. Ignore it except for one thing.
It’s always a good more to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner here. The regulator can move a little slowly, but movement happens when there are lots of complaints.
