Every vote really does count: South Somerset edition

Sarah Dyke-Bracher out campaigning

In Thursday’s elections Sarah Dyke-Bracher regained the Milborne Port ward of South Somerset for the Liberal Democrats with a majority of just one.

Her win made the council itself 29 Liberal Democrats to 28 Conservatives (with 3 independents).

Every vote really can count.

Many people of course can claim responsibility for winning that one extra vote but one person with a strong claim is the retiring Liberal Democrat MP in the area David Heath, who, as he was collecting tellers’ numbers in the evening, met a voter mending his car. David persuade him to take a break from the car and come with him to vote.
