News from the Iowa School Board:

The lone candidate for a northern Iowa school board district seat didn’t vote for himself, and neither did anyone else.

Preliminary figures from Howard County say only 36 people voted in Tuesday’s election for the Riceville Board of Education, and no one voted in District 3, where Randy Richardson was the only person running. Riceville is a farming community of around 500 residents, and the district covers Riceville and McIntire — population 122 — and the surrounding area…

Richardson says he’s willing to be appointed. The 42-year-old told the Mason City Globe Gazette that he was too busy Tuesday to vote.
