How elections used to be: the 1964 general election warms up

Ted Dexter didn’t defeat Jim Callaghan in the end. The reference to Tokyo is to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics at which later Liberal MP and Liberal Democrat leader Ming Campbell raced.
