Rupert Moss-Eccardt is the first Lib Dem Police Commissioner candidate

Congratulations to Rupert Moss-Eccardt who, as Mark Valladares reports, has just become the first selected Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) candidate for the Liberal Democrats ahead of the May 2016 elections.

Rupert Moss-Eccardt, a former Parliamentary candidate, has been selected for Cambridgeshire and, as a security consultant, bring very welcome knowledge about the internet, cyber-security and protecting our civil liberties to the contest.

Lib Dems become keener on fighting PCC elections

The Liberal Democrats have had a mixed attitude towards contesting Police and Crime Commissioner elections in the past, but this time round the mood is much more positive towards fighting them.

Rightly so, because as David Howarth and I pointed out in our core votes pamphlet, the Liberal Democrats need a much higher core, long-term loyal, vote. And you can’t get people into the habit of regularly voting Liberal Democrat if you decide to ban people voting Lib Dem by not putting up a candidate in one of those elections.
