Obama and Cameron election guru Jim Messina joins campaign to remain in EU

Well this is (mostly) good news:

The US consultant who helped David Cameron to secure election victory is helping to prepare the campaign to keep Britain in the EU.

Jim Messina, who was paid almost £400,000 by the Conservatives to help to identify and target key voter groups, has been appointed to the cross-party “remain” campaign group.

Mr Messina’s involvement underlines the extent to which the in-out referendum is likely to mark a further switch to digital campaigning. [The Times]

Prior to working for David Cameron, Jim Messina was Barack Obama’s campaign manager.
