Café with a view #15: The Lighterman, King’s Cross
Located in the huge redevelopment behind King’s Cross station, and overlooking the Regent’s Canal, The Lighterman (3 Granary Square, London, N1C 4BH) offers a prime viewing location for the canal, its boats, King’s Cross redevelopment, The Guardian‘s offices and, currently, lots of building work.
A typical modern mix of restaurant and pub, early in the morning it is generally not very crowded and does very tasty breakfast (at a price).
It’s a lovely location already, and will simply get better and better as the surrounding redevelopment finishes. Head east from here and you’ll come across two other great cafes with lovely views – first the Rotunda a few minutes away and then carry on along the canal into Hackney for the Pavilion Cafe.
