Liz Leffman selected for the Lib Dems in Witney
The excellent Liz Leffman has been selected by the Liberal Democrats ahead of the Parliamentary by-election in Witney caused by the resignation of David Cameron.
A councillor locally in Charlbury and Finstock, Liz Leffman won two-thirds of the vote when re-elected in May this year. She also stood in Witney against David Cameron in 2005, finishing second and scoring the best-ever Lib Dem result in the constituency.Outside of party politics, she has a strong business background, having run a successful consultancy specialising in the global trade in textiles and clothing, and worked with several charities:
I founded my company offering advice to British traders who want to work with businesses in other EU countries. This means I know first hand how destructive Brexit will be on our industries. We need to act now to safeguard our economy from the dreadful impact this could have, or ideally reverse it.
She was a founder member of Sustainable Charlbury, and is a trustee of the West Oxfordshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau. She was a member of the team that worked to save Chipping Norton hospital. Her hard work paid off – the hospital was rebuilt.
Tim Farron has already been out campaigning with Liz Leffman:
