Strong Conservative showing in this week’s council by-election results
Three Conservative Party defences, one Labour defence and four Liberal Democrat candidates are the basics of this week’s council by-elections.
Given the week of politics we’ve had, the Conservative performance was rather strong across these wards as the full results below show. No follow up to last week’s Lib Dem win alas.
Bush Hill Park, Enfield
Robert Wilson was the Liberal Democrat candidate in this Conservative ward.
Lancaster Gate, Westminster
A Conservative defence with Sally Gray as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the ward where Liberal Party leader Jeremy Thorpe used to live. Former Liberal Democrat Zack Polanski was the Green Party candidate.
Datchet, Windsor and Maidenhead
Tim O’Flynn was the Liberal Democrat in this long-running Conservative ward:
Upton, Wirral

Bush Hill Park ward in Enfield is in Kate Osamor’s Edmonton constituency. A lot has been happening locally since the May elections.
