Watford Liberal Democrat members have reselected local Cllr Ian Stotesbury to be their Parliamentary Candidate at the next general election.
Cllr Ian Stotesbury stood for the Liberal Democrats at the last general election and lives in North Watford with his fiancé, Clare . He was elected a Callowland councillor this May having gained the ward from Labour in a hard-fought campaign.
Space engineer Ian has worked in the science and technology sector for a number of years and now works as a Senior System Engineer in spacecraft design, manufacturing and launch.
Cllr Ian Stotesbury, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Watford said,
“It’s a real honour to have been reselected Parliamentary Candidate for Watford, Abbots Langley and the surrounding areas. I love Watford and I’m really proud not only to live here with my fiancé Clare but also to now represent Callowland at Watford Borough Council. Watford is a fantastic place to live and work and you can see from May’s Mayoral election result that people trust the Lib Dems to deliver for our town and areas nearby. We work hard, we listen and we take the job of being representatives seriously.
“I’ve already started to get my teeth stuck into the role, whether it be campaigning to get fairer fares for Watford commuters or demanding that people have the final say on the Brexit deal. With the government lurching from crisis to crisis and Labour sitting on the fence when it comes to the biggest issue of our time, it’s clear that the Liberal Democrats are needed now more than ever. I will campaign tirelessly to become the next MP for Watford. Watford and the surrounding area deserves a better voice, and I want to provide it.”
Peter Taylor, Liberal Democrat Elected Mayor of Watford said, ‘I’m really delighted that Ian has been reselected to be our Parliamentary candidate. Ian is passionate about Watford and has made a fantastic local councillor. He lives here and he really understands the issues that affect our town, whether that be the cost of travel in Watford, the need for our town to be more sustainable or fighting for a genuine People’s Vote on the Brexit deal. I can’t wait to work with Ian to make sure that Watford gets a liberal voice in Parliament.”
