Boris Johnson forced to apologise after breaking rules over £50,000 paid to him

Boris Johnson, the man who perfects an act straight out of The Thick of It, has been caught out repeatedly breaking the rules over £50,000 he’s received whilst being an MP.

He has been ordered to apologise to Parliament for repeatedly breaking the rules for MPs on declaring their earnings.

He didn’t break the rules over just the one payment. Or two. Or three. Or four. Or five. Or six. Or seven. Or eight.

Rather, he broke the rules over a full nine payments – with the independent investigation finding that the repeated infractions were not due to “inadvertent error”. Rather, “the fact that the late registrations had happened on four separate occasions and involved nine payments, suggests a lack of attention to, or regard for, the House’s requirements rather than oversight or inadvertent error”.

  1. Someone made a comment on John Crace’s political sketch about Boris:

“Wasn’t he born abroad? Can’t we deport him? The Home Office should look into the possibility.”

    Sounds a good idea.

  2. Boris is for Boris. Sod parliament and any, everybody else. I trust the Taxman is breathing down his neck as they breath down a Universal Credit person who has forgotten that he/she had been overpaid.
