The Byron Bay Railroad Company runs the world’s first 100% solar-powered train. It wouldn’t work everywhere – but in the bright sunshine of Australia, it might just be the right tool for the job.

  1. Good to see 100% solar power used for trains; in Europe there’s an example of partially solar-powered trams at Bad Schandau near the German border with the Czech Republic in what’s known locally as the ‘Saxon Switzerland’ – a fantastic walking area.
