We’re recruiting for some important volunteer posts in the Liberal Democrats: members of our Federal Appeals Panel.

They are a bit like the party’s internal Supreme Court and makes key rulings on matters as varied as the party leadership election, the meaning of “weekend”, and how to make decisions over going into coalition government:

The Liberal Democrats – Britain’s voice for a truly open, tolerant, and united society – are seeking fair-minded, curious and insightful volunteers to join the Federal Appeals Panel for a term of five years starting in January 2021. One volunteer will be elected as Chair of the Federal Appeals Panel and if you wish to be considered for this position please specify in your application.

More details on the party website.

One response to “Could you be a member of the Lib Dem Federal Appeals Panel?”

  1. I would be willing to volunteer to serve on the Federal Appeals Panel. I am not ‘gagging’ to do it so if you get an avalanche of others who are then I am happy to stand back.
But it is something I feel able to do, having been a member of the Planning Committee(8yrs as chair) so well used to looking at ‘each case on its merits’ and making an objective judgement.
HQ records will show that I have held just about every position at a local level, serving as a PPC 5times(only once with any chance of winning).
I am currently ViceChair of the Parish Council and Board Member of SevernNet and of the West of England Rural Network, Though ‘retired’ I still do some work as a freelance Property Adviser.
My interest in serving on the Panel would be dependant upon travel and subsistence expenses being claimable.
