A very striking finding about the modern state of the Conservative Party
Assuming the figures are accurate (and ConHome‘s leadership surveys seem to have been), this is a very striking finding about the modern state of the Conservative Party:
The 3% of Lib Dem voters preferring Trump to Biden is an example of how there is so frequently weirdness in the small cross-tab numbers in polls.
But a big majority of Conservative members preferring Trump? That is much more serious.
I am not surprised. The Tory Party membership is way to the right of their voters
I wonder just why these people do think Trump’s wonderful – or at least OK.
voting reform will sort this out.. people voting positively instead of tribally.
Not surprising, party members most likely to be commited to ideological position over personality. What it highlights is the opportunity to move voters to their natural centre ground by matching party centre policies with charismatic messengers.
