what is crucial, moving forward, is that wherever there is an election we put up a candidate. Even in a moribund seat that is the first step to finding the core voters(as someone well known once said).
In the absence of a Local Party it is for Region to step up and make sure a candidate is found. Liberal Democrats can only claim to be a ‘national’ party by being on the ballot in every election.
