Isabelle Parasram and Matthew Clark among Lib Dems in New Year’s Honours list
Congratulations to the fellow Liberal Democrats spotted so far in the New Year’s Honours List. Although I have misgivings about some political honours that get dished out (no, being paid to be a minster and sitting behind a desk for years doing a mediocre job does not deserve special recognition), there are many people who do amazing things who are deserving of recognition.
So congratulations to the following Liberal Democrats, and do let me know of any omissions.

Very pleased to see that Matthew Clark has been awarded an MBE, I never saw him again after he left Southampton. Hoped I would have bumped into him at conference.
He was the driving force in getting me elected to Southampton City Council in 1994 and beating the then Labour Council leader. I remember he said to me that we would deliver the whole ward in a day, I thought no it can’t be done, but it was. He and his young team of students took the City by storm by winning our first seats on Southampton City Council in the early 1990’s.
Unfortunately things have changed since those days, but we are still fighting and I am still walking the streets with Focus. I still sometimes look at them and think they not like Matthews. I wish him all the best for the future and hopefully will get the chance to meet with him again.
