Liberal Democrats gain control of Bristol Council

The first big electoral news on a night where Labour is expecting bad news is indeed bad news for Labour and good news for the Liberal Democrats.

It’s from Bristol where four gains from the Labour Party have given the Liberal Democrats overall control of the council.

Labour won just two wards out of 23 on the night, compared with ten out of 24 in 2007. That’s quite some collapse in Labour support.
