Survey shows Tuffrey beating Opik 5:1 for Lib Dem Mayor candidate selection

Over on Lib Dem Voice, my co-editor Stephen Tall has been writing up the results of the latest survey of Liberal Democrat members he has carried out.

This one included a question about who members would choose as the party’s candidate for Mayor of London:

10% – Lembit Opik
56% – Mike Tuffrey
18% – I do not intend to vote for either
17% – Don’t know / No opinion

As Stephen rightly says, there are some caveats:

(1) the sample size was 176, so is more prone to error; (2) we have not verified if all who said they are eligible to vote in the selection process are actually eligible (although all are Lib Dem members); (3) our surveys are inevitably more skewed towards activist party members, so may not be representative of the wider membership.

I’ve previously set out my reasons for preferring Mike Tuffrey to Lembit Opik.
