Thank you: two motions submitted, two motions accepted for debate

Both the motion on Lords reform and the one on the party’s Federal Appeals Panel I helped organise have been chosen by the Federal Conference Committee to be debated at our autumn conference.

The Lords reform one is all about backing the idea of elections, whilst the Appeals Panel one is a constitutional amendment to tighten up and improve its reporting to the rest of us on its decisions. Thanks to everyone who helped with getting the motions written and submitted (and don’t forget you can back Lords reform via its Facebook page).

Also on the agenda will be proposals to relax the campaigning restrictions in federal committee elections and similar. These are coming from the Federal Executive but I’ve got a particular interest in them as they quite closely follow the suggestions I made in response to the last consultation.

All that now remains is persuading other conference reps of the wisdom of all three measures…
