Vince Cable and the future of the coalition: my TV interview

Quick trip to the BBC news studios this evening for this interview:

There was a rather bizarre and amusing prequel when the technical staff had a hurried discussion about whether or not my hair was dark enough! Something to do with problems with the green screen and so people with light coloured hair were coming out looking green. They decided my hair was dark enough to be safely broadcast, phew.

  1. I LOVE Mark's answers here. He is both straightforward but incredibly honest in recognising the natural tensions in a coalition government. It's much better to recognise the differences, and indeed benefits of having open and honest disagreements between two parties in coalition than pretending there are none. Maybe this is why John Major recently said that the current coalition is working better than the one he led? Fab work Mark – you did brilliantly! 🙂

  2. Mark – that was excellent. You weren't just reactive – you made some very important points about our public "differentiation" strategy in order to get some credit finally for the enormous effect we're having in government that the public don't always know about. And you're right – I don't think she liked the answer to your first question!

    • have to say whenever I get cross with the coalition, I comfort myself wondering just how awful it would have been if it was pure Tory. Tempering the ruthless right is a thankless task but someone has to do it & I am grateful to you lot for sticking at it. ps. definitely a green halo there. someone speak to the tech guys!
