TfL- we’re running extra trains but we won’t tell you when they are

That is one of the bizarre details revealed in the aftermath of the latest failures on London’s Jubilee Line:

Tube bosses were accused of “over-selling” a claimed improvement in service launched today with 30 trains an hour – up from 27 – during the morning and evening peak.

Transport for London (TfL) said 30 trains per hour would operate “during the busiest hour” in the morning and evening – but would not reveal the exact times.

The reason why they wouldn’t? It may have something to do with this:

The Lib Dem group of the London Assembly said they had been told by Transport for London (TfL) that the increased service would run for just 40 minutes…

Of the service upgrade to 30 trains an hour Ms [Caroline] Pidgeon said: “After eight years of upgrade work we were promised that the Jubilee line would finally deliver trains in both directions throughout the busiest times of the day.

“Sadly the new timetable does not even deliver 30 trains for a full hour every morning. The Mayor and TfL have been caught out overselling the new timetable.”
