A good thing about Liberal Democrat conference registration

There’s been plenty of fuss about the party’s approach to security accreditation for the Liberal Democrat federal (UK-wide) party conferences. Having criticised both some of the substance and the communications, it’s only fair to point out just how easily I found the online conference registration process.

Compared to many online payment/registration processes, the series of web pages is pretty good and the way it remembers key information is also handy – making the process fairly quick and painless (if – and it’s an important if – the accreditation problems do not directly have an impact on you in filling them out).

The system is essentially the same as at several other recent party conferences. Of course I can think of an improvement or two… but the overall flow of questions, wording of information on-screen, wording of publicity and confirmation emails and so on are the best set I’ve seen for party conference registration.

The party staff who implement these systems do so on the basis of the decisions about accreditation and so on that the party committees and officers make. Given the decisions they’ve been given to work with, they’ve done a good job.Well done to all those involved.
