Lib Dem blog awards: thank you to those organising them

This year, for the first time, I’m not involved in organising the Lib Dem Blog of the Year awards. I’ll admit to being happy that something which started whilst I was working for the party is being kept going, including some of the features which I was most pleased with (such asĀ forcing a new Blog of the Year winner each year by making previous winners into judges, having at least one category that looks to the wider blogosphere and highlighting blogs by those elected to public office).

Decisions about how to run the awards are always going to generate some controversy and discussion. Indeed, it is a sign of success that people are bothered enough to be bothered about them.

But in all that it’s easy to forget to thank the people who put time in voluntarily to run the awards. It’s not a trivial amount of time by any means, and that effort brings great benefits. And the feedback to that effort can often be dominated by people complaining about aspects they don’t like.

So simply – thank you.
