YouGov gives Clegg best net ratings since March 2012
There is a further interesting snippet of evidence about how Nick Clegg’s appearance on LBC went down, to go with the online poll I mentioned during the week.
This time it is another online poll, but a ‘proper’ one with weighting, full protection against multiple voting and the like, and it comes in the form of YouGov’s latest poll for the Sunday Times.
Each week this poll asks the public how they rate the party leaders, and today sees the best net rating for Nick Clegg since March last year and in fact at least 8 points better than all the other of those polls in the interim.
It’s only one poll and many things can move the public’s views of someone, but even so – it’s a large shift in Clegg’s ratings and the LBC interview was the big news about him last week.
It's a good move. Gives something for the media to cover re: Nick every week – especially useful when he doesn't feature in PMQs any more…
LBC slot also means voters (in London especally) are less likely to feel that Nick is out of touch/out of reach.
Nick performed well and I was glad I could pick it up on Sky Channel 0112. Never listened to LBC before. I'm sure Ed Miliband will be fuming at Nick getting a regular slot and that it makes him sound human, rather than just as a politician.
All he needs now is a regular slot on regional radio……
Lets hope Nick gets similar opportunities to talk straight to members of the public on the TV or radio and he can show how genuine he is. This will see the press and public start listening to us again.
