The war on Stroud Green’s potholes: a northern front opens

Whilst the potholes at the southern end of Stroud Green Road look like hanging on for a good while yet, there is good news off the northern end of Stroud Green Road – for the potholes on Crouch Hill are about to get a thorough tarmacing.

The work will be on the stretch between Trinder Road and Shaftesbury Road:

The improvements are in two phases, first we will reconstruct the road base and in the second phase we will lay a new surface. The reconstruction works are due to start on 14 September 2009 and will last for approximately 4 weeks. The full carriageway resurfacing will take place later depending on weather conditions.

To allow us to carry out the works as quickly and as efficiently as possible, it will be necessary to introduce some occasional parking suspensions. However, these will be kept to a minimum and we will ensure that signs are put up well in advance to give residents as much notice as possible of any restrictions. (Source: Islington Council letter)

  1. Mark, I thought I would just mention that my local green, just 200 yards down the road in Newbury, is also called Stroud Green. (It’s an enclave of the famous/infamous Greenham Common.) I walk our dog there daily, and jog round it (3 times round=5 k) several times a month. So whenever I see your posts with “Stroud Green” in the title on LibDem Blogs, my mind does a little somersault.
