Missing name(s) from the peerage speculation
My money is one there being at least one name missing from the speculation about who will be in the next raft of Liberal Democrats appointed to the Lords.
It’s 99.4% certain there will be at least one person who hasn’t been named and they’ll be a female, former council (group) leader from outside London.
I describe them thus because all three criteria are ones those advising Nick Clegg are keen on – a good gender balance amongst the appointees (if not going quite as far as I would), a further strengthening of the local government knowledge and links in Parliamentary ranks and a desire to see the list not too London dominated.
Might that be the excellent Cllr Sian Reid, former leader of Cambridge City Council? A superb environmental campaigner.
