The problem with the government’s lobbying proposals explained in one photo

The government’s proposed register of lobbyists will exclude most lobbyists as it excludes (1) those who are employed directly by a firm to lobby on its own behalf (in-house lobbyists) and (2) those who work for PR firms and similar if the majority of their work isn’t lobbying.

Note: I have, and do, worked for firms that are covered by the industry’s current self-regulation setup. It’s striking that this covers a significantly wider range of firms and activities than the government’s proposals do.
