Sal Brinton is first out of the blocks in the race to be Lib Dem President

Current Liberal Democrat President Tim Farron is term-limited and not able to restand when his second successive term in the post finishes.

First out of the blocks in the contest – which will be decided by an all-member postal ballot later this year – with a campaign machine in operation at the party’s York spring conference is Sal Brinton. Her campaign badges were already being passed around yesterday:

Also in the race will be Pauline Pearce, known as the Hackney Heroine after confronting rioters during the London riots.
