Nine Queens: a brilliant crime thriller

To praise Fabian Bielinksy’s Nine Queens as the best Argentinian film I’ve seen is both true and unfair – unfair because I’ve not seen nearly enough Argentinian films to make that accolade worthy of such an exciting and fun film.

An entertaining and witty account of two conmen who try to pull off a huge scam, all the events happen within less than 24 hours and – a real tribute to the plot’s ingenuity – it remains gripping even if you successfully guess the key plot twist early on.

Rather like The Usual Suspects, when all is revealed, you are likely to feel the itch to hit rewind to make sense of the plot in full.

A great film – get it, watch it, enjoy it.
