Financial help for potential Lib Dem council candidates with disabilities

Via ALDC comes this helpful reminder about support available from the government:

The Access to Elected Office Fund seeks to provide assistance to candidates with disabilities seeking election to public office…

The programme comprises identifying potential candidates with disabilities in target seats for next May’s council elections. We’re probably looking for about five or six. Each of these candidates will be given advice and support through a (paid for) mentor and for applying for a grant direct from DCMS. The grant will cover all sorts of assistance to overcome physical and other barriers to getting elected. It will not pay for election campaigning but does cover transport and mobility, assistance and more. (The grants are agreed with the Electoral Commission as not being considered as either income or expenditure for your election campaign expenses return.)
