Applications open for the Next Generation local government leadership programme

Whilst muttering ‘Make it so‘ to yourself, here’s an email from ALDC Chief Executive Tim Pickstone to read:

ALDC co-ordinates the Liberal Democrat stream of Local Government Association’s ‘Next Generation’ programme.

‘Next Gen’ comprises of a series of meetings and training events designed to build leadership skills and experience among a small group of Liberal Democrat councillors…

The commitment is to attend four events over the next year, a total of eight days. This is an excellent opportunity for those who take part, and something I would really recommend to anyone considering moving into a local leadership position in the next phase of their careers.

We’re now on the ninth year of the Next Generation programme which has grown over the years to be a huge success and benefit to Lib Dem councillors. Previous cohorts have seen the programme as a great development tool, used it as an opportunity to learn best practice, meet Ministers and senior Party figures and take on leadership roles themselves.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s programme of events (participants must commit to attending all events, so please do make sure you will be able to do so if selected), the LGA’s application form can be accessed here.

The deadline for applications is Friday 22nd August.

More information is also on the LGA’s website here.
