Pizza Express: Parkway, Camden

Bruschetta Con Funghi

Disappointingly normal and up-with-the-latest-brand toilet signs in the Camden Pizza Express (83-87 Parkway, London, NW1 7PP). What else to say?

Well, it’s made from two shop units knocked together, with most of the ground floor given over to kitchen and stairs. That means the seating there can get a bit cramped even on a quiet weekday evening and especially when there are people coming and going for take aways. Downstairs is much more spacious, if festooned with laser printed black and white fire exit signs as if a super-nervous member of staff has been let loose with a laser printer and sellotape. Elsewhere the walls are adorned with many jazz and other similar artistic posters, a nod to the area’s jazz heritage – notably the Jazz Cafe at 5 Parkway.

Good service and utterly unphased by my current habit of going for two starters as a main.

So that is 47 down, 91 (or thereabouts) to go.
