Conservative Party activist convicted of proxy vote fraud

Conservative activist John Hall was convicted today on one charge of voting fraud.

As mentioned previously, the case arose from the Whiteley ward contest (Winchester Council) in 2007, where the Conservatives held the ward by just 19 votes and hence overall control of the local council by just one seat.

The conviction, however, will not result in any election being re-run.
