How not to send an email: Harriet Harman edition
Harriet Harman’s campaign for Labour Deputy Leader doesn’t really seem to be at the cutting edge of technology: sending out an email to several hundred councillors and sticking all their addresses in the to/cc fields is just asking for an unhappy recipient to hit “reply all” … and indeed they did.
It’s also highly questionable data protection practice to expose people’s personal data – their email addresses – to all and sundry in this way.
Rather ironic for a leading Labour figure to be so slapdash with personal data when Labour is so keen on getting the government to gather up even more data about ourselves in future. Perhaps their next manifesto should promise, “Big Brother wants your data, but it’s ok – we won’t let Harriet near it”?
