Anyone spotted David Blunkett’s £10million?
First, the online fundraising hype:
David Blunkett, who spoke at a rally for PPCs last month and said he was leading a campaign to raise £10million for Labour’s election campaign, is to lead a “massive, two month” US-style internet drive to try and cultivate small donations for the election campaign. [LabourList, February]
And then the reality:
David Blunkett, the former home secretary, was given the task of trying to widen Labour’s donor base by organising a campaign to raise modest sums from ordinary supporters, a key Obama technique. So far, party staffers admit, little cash has been donated in this way. [Sunday Times, April]
