The mammoth Al-Yamamah arms deal between the UK and Saudi Arabia was surrounded by controversy and allegations of bribery.
The Serious Fraud Office’s investigation was finally dropped in 2006 on the basis that proceeding with legal charges would cause, “real and imminent damage to the UK’s national and international security and would endanger the lives of UK citizens and service personnel”.
