David Penhaligon (1944-86) was Liberal MP for Truro 1974-86 and progenitor of the famous campaigning quip, “Stick it on a piece of paper and stuff it through a letterbox”.

The Penhaligon Award is named after him; awarded annually at the Liberal Democrat autumn federal conference, it goes to the local party which has done best at increasing membership and involving members.
