What became the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011 legislated for the Alternative Vote referendum and for a change in Parliamentary boundaries, bringing the House of Commons down to 600 MPs. The latter provision was then delayed when House of Lords reform moves broke down later in the Parliament.
