Peter Hain was a Labour MP 1991-2015, serving in the Cabinet under both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. He ran for Labour Deputy Leader in 2007 but his campaign triggered a political funding scandal over failures to comply with election finance regulations. Although the CPS decided not to prosecute him, he was forced to resign from the Cabinet.
