Good things happening in Barking & Dagenham Liberal Democrats

Felicia Taiwo is one energetic and charming candidate
It was great to see how the challenge of providing an alternative to Labour that wasn’t the BNP sparked Liberal Democrats in Barking & Dagenham to put up far more candidates than for many years in the local elections this May. At the Westminster level, Dominic Carman used the opportunity to highlight many powerful anti-Nick Griffin messages – and it was a pleasure to work with him on some literature and his Facebook presence for the election.

Since then the team has continued to grow, with more members and a new local structure hopefully being launched shortly.

Yesterday I went over to help in the by-election coming up on Thursday and met the candidate, Felicia Taiwo. All I can say is, wow! What a fantastic whirlwind of enthusiasm and charm.

Too often in the past I fear we’ve let such people slip away, because local parties haven’t been keen enough to expand their team or imaginative enough about how to get people involved and who to ask.

It’s good to see Barking & Dagenham Liberal Democrats look to be getting things right. Felicia’s by-election is on Thursday, so there is still time for you to go and help.
